Federation Accounts Department

The Department has the following functions or terms of reference:

  1. Ensure the correct application of the indices and approved Revenue Allocation Formulae;
  2. Ensure that resources are distributed among the beneficiaries of the Federation Account in accordance with Constitutional provisions and rulings of courts of competent jurisdiction;
  3. Prepare the Committee work plan;
  4. Prepare the Committee Annual Reports;
  5. Attend on behalf of the Commission, the meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC);
  6. Represent the Commission at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) for reconciliation meeting;
  7. Provide Technical and Secretariat support for the Post Mortem Sub-Committee of FAAC;
  8. Prepare Departmental Annual Report and submission of same to the Planning, Research and Statistics on or before end of first quarter of the following year;
  9. Provide administrative, technical and professional support to the Federation Account Committee (FAC); and
  10. Carry out any other assignment as may be directed by the Chairman of the Commission.
