CUSTOMS REVENUE DEPARTMENT

The Department has the following functions:

  1. Monitor regularly revenue collections/remittances of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
  2. Collate and analyze data on revenue collections/remittances by Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
  3. Demand and obtain relevant information on revenue collections /remittances from the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF), Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) and other relevant Agencies in respect of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
  4. Create, maintain and up-date a comprehensive data bank for the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in respect of revenue collections/remittances into the Federation Account.
  5. Evaluate revenue generation trends in order to block the revenue leakages accruing to the Federation Account.Represent the Commission at the following meetings

(a). monthly meetings of the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF), Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) and other relevant Agencies;

(b).    Technical Sub-Committee of CBN, Lagos in respect of revenue collections/remittances by Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

(c).    Presidential Revenue Monitoring Committee meetings in respect of revenue collections/remittances by Nigeria Customs Service (NCS); and

(d).    Represent the Inter-Ministerial Committee meetings on Reconciliation and Monitoring in respect of revenue collections/remittances by Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

6. In conjunction with the State Offices Liaise with Zonal/State Offices quarterly for effective reconciliation of the revenue from Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

7. Prepare of Departmental annual report and submission of same to the Planning, Research and Statistics Department on or before end of first quarter of the following year.

8. Organize training programs/needs for the staff of the Department in conjunction with the Administration and Human Resources Department.

9. Provide administrative, technical and professional support to the Customs Revenue Monitoring Committee (CRMC).

10. Any other duties that may be assigned by the Chairman or the Commission.
